Japanese Books and bags

While visiting Ranette's blogspot last week, I saw the pictures of her Japanese patchwork books... sooo I thought it would be nice to post pictures of the ones I have plus one of the little baggies I made from one of them. (Top right in picture)
I have made another little bag with this same pattern but have varied it a bit. For that one I used a pretty asian fabric and simplified the heart shape. The heart shape on the front of the one here is made from .5inch hexagons which I'd English paper pieced. The fabric I used for the main part of the bag should have been homespun but it wasn't and so it didn't fray properly when I added the bit around the heart panel. However, it is a Tardis of a little baggy and holds more than you'd think. :)

I apologize for the quality of these pictures but I don't yet know how to operate our new camera. I think that will have to be put on my list of new technology to master and I'll have to locate the instruction booklet and go through it :)

  1. Your bag is beautiful and the hexagon inset is really cute. I like the Japanese designs a lot and I love browsing through the books even though I don't understand too many Japanese words.
    Aloha!

  3. The bag is lovely! I'm impressed that you pieced the hexagons. I haven't tried that yet, but it's on my to-do list. How big is the bag?
