I was visiting Luann's blog and saw her lovely scrappy blocks. Here is what I did with a scrappy set of appliqué blocks made from Dear Hannah sampler with some scraps I was given in a group challenge. It is made with these scraps and scraps from my own stash. I used the B-11 "To Paducah" pieced block for the alternative blocks.

At last I sewed together my blocks for the center of my challenge quilt. Now I have to think about borders. I have a couple of ideas which I'll try out with my EQ6 first.

Two more Dear Hannah blocks

Here are the last two Dear Hannah blocks for my little Scrap Bag project. D-2 Love Apple and K-1 Delectable Mt. Diablo. Now to sew all the blocks together :-D (Well now I'm going off to bed so it will have to wait until tomorrow... :))

Dear Hannah A-9 Little Robin Red Breast & E-9 Bonnie Blue

Whoah! I haven't posted in ages.   Sorry folkes.  Here is a couple of pictures for you of the latest Dear Hannah blocks I've made for my Scrapbag Challenge.   I have a couple more to make then I can start to assemble the center of top.  They are half done so hopefully they'll be finished by the end of this weekend.

(I should mention that i plan to embroider the robin's legs on at some point :-))

Dear Hannah - D-8 Gransy's Pansy

Well I finished another DH block.  Gransy's Pansy.  I had a mishap when trimming the fabric from one piece and clipped the applique underneath so I had to get creative, hence the French Knots.  3 more appliques to do then the rest of the pieced alternate blocks and I can assemble!!

I've a few photos to show. So I'll post them all here. Friday, as anyone not living on Mars would know was Valentine's day. Well I got 3 cards!! yep 3!! One from DH and 2 from a couple of girlfriends. One girlfriend sent me a lovely Valentine siggy and that was Cyn in CA. Here it is... isn't it so pretty!! At the moment I have it in a zip lock baggy so I can pin it to the wall at my sewing table. (that's why there's a shiny bit on it, it's the baggy reflecting)







Then when I was at Freswick on Friday I took some photos of the scenery outside the old school hall where we spent Friday sewing. Can you see the old tumbling down castle in the distance. Yes it was very cold on Friday.


















Lastly, when I got back from a full day sewing (in which I did very little sewing :))) I made this week's DH BOW from DJRetreats list, which so happens to be my alternate block for my DH Scrab bag challenge. So I also did some speed cutting and piecing to get quite a few of the units done for the other 11 blocks.

So now I'm going to add the pictures and hope I do it in the right order so they'll appear next to their story :))

Scrap bag challenge - another setting option

I've been playing with my EQ and made another setting for my SBC. here it is. It uses all DH blocks as the inbetween block is a DH block too, 'B-11 To Paducah ' Some of the blocks I've already done and some are yet to be made. :))

DH B-6 Bells of Ireland

Whoohoo!! Actually got a block done this week. A DH one for my scrapbag challenge. Here it is. Bells of Ireland. I've been wanting to do this block for a while now and now it's done. Again I back basted appliqued this block. I'm getting to love this method of applique.

Also, I'm want to show you my progress on my Inklingo panelled bag. I've finished both side panels and have also machine quilted them. The pattern says to hand quilt them but I want this bag this year :)) and I thought machine stitching would be stronger... that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. I still need to perfect my use of our new camera or get another :))

Dear Hannah G-5 and First Diamond Block 12 bk1

Hi everyone, I hope you had a good weekend. I did get some sewing in this past week. I completed the sewing of a little wallhanging which I started at a workshop in September 2007, I just need to 'touch up' the foil on it then it's ready for showing :-D
Meanwhile I have also done another Dear Hannah block towards my KKQ scrap bag challenge and also my very first Quilted Diamond. I'm hoping to make enough blocks for a small table topper.

Dear Hannah M-1 Mallard Crossing & B-10 Mum's the Word

I enjoyed doing the duck one. I used Back Basting applique. Also finished the flower one this evening. This is the one that got lost mid week... it eventually turned up, when I wasn't looking!! Typical!

Dear Hannah H-10 Posey Posey

I finally picked up a needle yesterday and started this week's DH BOW. I finished it today.
Maybe I'll get more sewing done tomorrow :-D
I did combination applique on this one. Stem and leaf were done back basting method and the flowers using freezer paper underneath.
Off to bed now as it's really late..

Dear Hannah J-2 Max Anna Jane

I've completed another block for my Scrapbag challenge. Here it is. I used the back basting method of appliqué and I'm getting to like this alot. I'm not sure how many blocks I'm going to do for this project. I have another applique one ready to stitch and then I may do some pieced ones... it's a work-it-out-as-you-go sort of project >G<>
I did buy some fabric for the setting triangles. It's Kaffe Fassett and I think it'll give the project a bit of a lift. See it here on my early plan for this top... it may change.

Scrap Bag Challenge

My little house group the KKQs are having another challenge..... like we've finished the last one... not yet. Anyway, we all put our scraps of at least 400g in weight in a poly bag then put these into a larger bin liner and stirred. Then we all got to pick out one of the bags of scraps. If we got our own we had to put it back... guess what I was the only one that got there own so had to swap it with the one left in the liner which was for Janet who wasn't at the meeting. Anyway, this is the bundle of scraps that I got.
I decided I would use them to make a small Dear Hannah quilt.... wallhanging size. And here are my first two blocks. My this applique is fiddly. They haven't quite turned out as the pattern but I'm happy enough with them. I've added the yellow to the mix to give it sparkle and have made a plan on EQ5 on how I may use them.
