Rainbow Scrappy Challenge and Dear Jane

As usual I’m a day behind, but I have got a little pink to show.  I pulled together some of the not so hot pink sample squares of various sizes around 1.5inch and stitched them together and teamed them with some turquoise to make a little sleeping bag for a bear that I’ve also to make for DD.  It’s a gift for her birthday which is on Wednesday this coming week.  She’ll be 23!!!  I’ll post a picture of the bear once I’ve made it but meanwhile I used one of my softies, a Jellycat bunny which DD bought for me, to model the sleeping bag for the pictures.
I followed Connie’s tutorial on her blog Freemotion by the River  here.   Thank you Connie.
Sleeping bag back
Here is the back.  Don’t look to close at the piecing.. it was haphazard.  I tried out my Sizzix Big Shot for the first time and added these flowers to hide the worse miss-matched seams and then used ‘scribbly’ free motion quilting/applique.  What a lot of fun that technique is.

Sleeping bag front close upHere is a close up of the pocket front.
Today I settled down to some serious more precise piecing of a Dear Jane block.

The pink squares finish at 3/4ths inch and the sashing finishes at 1/4ths inch!  I also added sashing to the right side of this block and to the one I made last week.  Then I sashed and joined up 4 blocks from row B.  So a little progress.
This is all my stitching for this past week.  I have done a little Tunisian Crochet but I still have to finish the sample square which will be used as a wash cloth.  I need to go into the Craftsy classroom and see how to bind off.
Now if you’d like to see what others have done for this week’s Rainbow Scrappy Challenge   then go take a look on Soscrappy’s blog  here.
Have a great week!
Happy Quilting

  5. Lovely Dear Jane block. Are you sashing them all as you go? I was reading a tutorial on Aunt Reen's blog and thought about starting to sash mine as well. Adorable little sleeping bag. what fun project for using up some scraps and practicing a new technique.

  6. I had to laugh, I'm usually late too but love it that I'm not by myself! Great little sleeping bag. So cute. I like your Dear Jane block too. I think my grandkids would like the little sleeping bag for some of their toys. That's a great idea for scraps.

  8. I love the sleeping bag - particularly the flowers on the patchwork background - my two most favourite techniques - applique and patchwork.
But your jail block is just so precise and so lovely - it is stunning. You are making me feel lazy though with all this activity.
