This week I made the little blue cross blocks to go in the border for my Rainbow Scrappy ‘Boxed In’ project. (I must apologise for the quality of the pictures in this post as the light isn’t very good at this time of year). Here are they are on their own:
Here they are with the blue Boxed In block:
And here is the project so far with blocks I made last year. I haven’t set all the little cross blocks around, just a selection.:
I also ripped and re-stitched the little orange crosses which I had done the other way round last year. I couldn’t settle to them being different to the others.
I thought I’d show you the 6 Rainbow Scrappy blocks I made in the first year I joined in with Angela’s of Soscrappy’s Rainbow Challenges. I didn’t get far with them that year. Anyway, I’ve put them up on my batting design wall and I’m thinking about what to do next. I’m considering that I’ll add blocks of the colours I missed as they come around. They will be 12” finished. Here they are:
I have also joined up with Leah Day’s Building Blocks Quilt Along, where we will be working on a block a week to piece and then free machine quilt. I decided to choose colours alongside the colour of the month for the RSC. Here is my first blue block pieced and quilted. I’m in the middle of quilting my 2nd one and the third I’ll do next week. My FMQ is a little wobbly but that’s okay. This is a learning experience and hopefully, I’ll end up with a nice cuddly quilt for the sofa.
Lastly, I finally got around to making some marmalade. The only one I make is a 5 fruit one. The fruits in the recipe I use are Oranges, Lemons, Grapefruit, Pear and Bramley Apple. However, since my DH and a few others which I share with are on medication with which they can’t eat grapefruit, I have replaced the grapefruit with limes. Here’s a picture I took just as the fruit was starting to cook in the pan:
That’s me for this week. I hope you will hop over to Soscrappy’s blog to check out all the other blue projects being done this month. Lots of eye candy I can promise you ;0) I can’t wait to find out what the colour will be for February.
